Are there payment plans and group rates available?

Absolutely. Group rates and payment plans are both available. Simply contact us via email at or Call/WhatsApp/Text at 876-298-8840.

What are the waves like?

Surfing in Jamaica is especially ideal for beginners and first-time surfers. The gentle waves are accompanied by year-round warm waters of 80-85°F or 26-29°C. And yes, we do have spots that are suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers as well. Surf spots in Jamaica are mostly reef and point breaks with cobblestone bottom, so aqua shoes or warm water surf booties are recommended (although optional). The surf side of the island has black sand beaches, which can get pretty hot in the mid-day sun, so sandals are recommended on the beach.

What currency is used in Jamaica?

In Jamaica we use Jamaican Dollars (JMD). You can get JMD locally at the ATM/ABM machines or we can arrange a trip to the Cambio (money exchange) if you need to change USD or other major currencies.

What airport should I fly into?

Norman Manley International Airport is the preferred arrival and departure airport and is just a quick 10-minute drive from the camp. Use airport code KIN when booking flights to this airport. You will want to aim to arrive on July 22, 2023 and depart on July 28, 2023. Transfers to and from this airport are included in your package.

An alternative airport is the Sangster International Airport. Just about 3 hours away by car, transfers to/from this airport are not included in your package. You can use airport code MBJ to book flights here. The most economical way to get to the camp will be by Knutsford Express bus from Montego Bay to Kingston (around US $30), and then a taxi to the camp (around US $30). Please check the bus schedule prior to booking your flights to ensure adequate travel times to avoid missed flights. If you are going to do this route, we recommend purchasing the Knutsford Express bus ticket online in advance as these seats fill up very quickly.

Where will I stay?

Jamnesia Surf Camp provides basic shared rooms with a fan. The idea is to make your stay as economical as possible so you can enjoy more of what Jamaica has to offer. Most rooms sleep 2, but we do have a room that sleeps 3 and another that sleeps 4. Windows are all equipped with mosquito meshing. Bathrooms are shared and there are also outdoor showers.

Will there be WiFi access?

Wifi is available throughout the common areas and rooms.

Do I need to bring a board?

You do not have to bring a surfboard with you as we have a variety of boards available at the Surf Camp. Board rental is included in your package. But if you want to bring your own surfboard then that’s awesome too. Just be aware of airline fees. American Airlines offers the most affordable board bag fees. If you are bringing boards please let us know so we can put the straps handy when we pick you up.

What do I need to bring?

Here is a list or recommended items that you can bring with you: comfortable swimwear, clothing for a warm/tropical climate, tropical booties/aquasocks/water shoes, yoga mat or towel, beach towel, flip-flops/sandals, hat and sunglasses, stickers from your hometown (we encourage you to place a few around the camp).

What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Not a problem. Just let us know about any allergies or restrictions you may have so we can make accommodations for you.

What if I require special assistance?

We pride ourselves in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for everyone regardless of your abilities. Just reach out to us so we can create a plan that best accommodates you. Our common areas and rooms are wheel-chair accessible with pathways that also go down to the beach.
